Residential Life
A Community That Feels Like Home
Residential life is at the heart of the Westminster experience. From a student’s first day on campus to graduation, residential life is intentionally designed to support personal growth, foster belonging, and create a sense of home away from home. In a sense, the dormitory is an extension of the classroom—a place where students practice the values of community, character, balance, and involvement—and where they strengthen the grit and grace that define the Westminster experience.
A Thoughtful Transition
Moving away from home is both exciting and challenging. Through a supportive residential program, students are guided through that transition by faculty, student leaders, and peers who help them feel welcomed, connected, and confident. Residential life helps students develop essential life skills, including responsibility, time management, communication, self-advocacy, and respect for others.
Beginning in the Third Form year, students become part of a dorm community where they quickly form friendships and establish routines. As they progress through their Westminster journey, students assume greater responsibility and leadership, culminating in opportunities for Fifth and Sixth Form students to serve as mentors and role models for younger classmates.
Faculty Who Live the Mission
One of Westminster’s greatest strengths is the on-campus presence of faculty and their families. The majority of faculty live on Williams Hill and serve as dorm parents, corridor supervisors, advisors, coaches, and mentors. Faculty families, children—and even some family pets—are part of daily life on campus, contributing to the warm and welcoming environment where students feel comfortable, supported, and connected.
Because students interact with faculty throughout the day—in classrooms, on athletic fields, during meals, and in the dormitories—relationships develop naturally and authentically. Faculty members open their homes and lives to students, hosting study breaks, celebrations, feeds, and informal gatherings throughout the year. These constant interactions help create a culture of trust, support, and connection that distinguishes the Westminster experience.
