  Westminster’s core values come to life in weekly Community, Character, Balance & Involvement Seminars for Third and Fourth Form students, helping them better understand themselves and their peers while growing as community members and leaders. Through meaningful conversations, reflection, and shared experiences, students build the confidence, resilience, and character needed to thrive in school, college, and life. Seminar topics include wellness, leadership, public speaking, civil discourse, healthy relationships, identity, and personal responsibility.

  Horizons at Westminster and Hartford Partnerships

  Service beyond self is central to Westminster’s mission. Rather than one-time volunteer projects, Westminster students have the opportunity to participate in sustained partnerships with Horizons at Westminster and organizations throughout Greater Hartford. By building relationships over time and becoming invested in the communities they serve, students develop empathy, leadership, and a deeper understanding of the responsibilities that come with making a meaningful difference.

  Learn from Accomplished Writers

  The Michael Cervas Visiting Writers Program

  Westminster’s Michael Cervas Visiting Writers Program brings nationally recognized poets, novelists, essayists, journalists, musicians, and other artists to campus throughout the year. Through the Gordon McKinley Fridays at Westminster series and the Westminster Poet Series, students engage directly with accomplished creators in readings, classrooms, and conversations that broaden perspectives and deepen their appreciation for literature and the arts.

  Architecture, Advanced Engineering & Design

  Westminster’s distinctive four-year Architecture curriculum provides students with a foundation in architectural design, complemented by an advanced engineering and design elective and opportunities like the Society of Women Engineers. Students imagine, design, build, and refine creative solutions to real-world challenges while discovering how thoughtful design and innovation shape the places where people live, learn, and connect.

  Westminster Investment Initiative & Real World Finance

  Students learn to navigate the financial realities of the modern world by exploring entrepreneurship, investing, budgeting, taxes, cryptocurrency, and consumer finance. Real-world experiences, including managing investments through the Westminster Investment Initiative, help students develop sound judgment, analytical thinking, and a sense of responsibility. Student-managed returns benefit Horizons at Westminster, demonstrating that financial success can create opportunities for others.

  Join a Research Community

  Observatory, Planetarium & Original Scientific Inquiry

  Westminster’s Barnes-Bristow Observatory and Class of 1957 Planetarium provide students with opportunities to explore the universe, and their own research interests, through observation, experimentation, and collaboration. Students extend their work through Westy Space Science, the Student-Led Astronomical Research Symposium (STARS), and the year-long Science Inquiry and Experimental Practice capstone, where they design original investigations and communicate their findings.
