Performing Arts
From the rehearsal studio to the spotlight, Westminster’s performing arts program inspires students to develop confidence, creativity, and collaboration through music, theater, dance, and technical theater. Whether discovering a new passion or building on years of experience, students learn from accomplished faculty while performing in professional-quality venues throughout the year.

Dance
Westminster’s dance program welcomes students of every experience level in a supportive studio environment where creativity and confidence grow together. Through ballet, modern technique, choreography, and performance, students develop artistic expression while building strength, discipline, and collaboration.Throughout the year, students study influential choreographers, create original works, and prepare for a fully produced spring dance concert on the Booker T. Bradshaw Stage in the Werner Centennial Center.
Music
Westminster’s music program offers opportunities for every musician—from first-time performers to experienced instrumentalists and vocalists. Students perform in ensembles, study privately with accomplished instructors, collaborate in student-led groups, and share their talents through concerts, Chapel services, Coffee Houses, and the annual winter musical.Professional rehearsal spaces, recording and podcast studios, and practice rooms provide students with exceptional opportunities to develop their musicianship while performing alongside friends and faculty throughout the year.

Concert Band
Westminster’s intermediate instrumental ensemble performs a diverse repertoire of popular, classical, jazz, and contemporary music. The band presents four major concerts each year, including Parents and Family Weekend, Candlelight, and the Winter and Spring Concerts. -
String Ensemble
Open to students with prior string experience, the String Ensemble performs classical, pop, rock, film, and jazz repertoire while emphasizing musical collaboration, interpretation, and performance. The ensemble appears in several concerts throughout the academic year, including Candlelight Lessons and Carols and the Spring Concert. -
Advanced Chamber Ensemble
By audition, Westminster’s advanced instrumental ensemble challenges experienced musicians with a sophisticated and varied repertoire while providing additional opportunities for performance and artistic growth. -
Chorale
Open to any student who enjoys singing, Chorale introduces vocal technique, breathing, diction, and ensemble performance while exploring a wide range of choral literature. The group performs several concerts throughout the year. -
Chamber Choir
Westminster’s select vocal ensemble performs an advanced repertoire spanning Renaissance madrigals to contemporary a cappella arrangements. In addition to school concerts, Chamber Choir performs at Chapel services, trustee and alumni events, and community performances.
Theater
Westminster’s theater program introduces students to every aspect of performance and production—from acting and directing to filmmaking, playwriting, and stage management.Introduction to Theater and Film emphasizes hands-on learning through scene work, improvisation, storytelling, and original filmmaking. Students interested in pursuing advanced work may also undertake independent studies in acting or playwriting.
Each year, Westminster stages a fall play and winter musical in the Werner Centennial Theater. During the spring, the Student Performing Arts Collective Ensemble (S.P.A.C.E.) gives students the opportunity to create, direct, and produce original theater, film, music, and dance performances.
Technical Theater
Behind every production is a talented team of student designers, builders, technicians, and stage managers. Working alongside the Technical Director, students learn scenic construction, lighting, sound, rigging, stage management, and production design while supporting Westminster performances and major campus events.Technical theater provides valuable experience in collaboration, creative problem-solving, leadership, and the behind-the-scenes artistry that brings every performance to life.
