Postgraduate Year
An Extra Year to Prepare
Students who will graduate from high school but believe an additional year of academic, athletic, artistic, and personal growth before college would be beneficial are encouraged to apply for a postgraduate (PG) year at Westminster. Typically, there are eight to 10 postgraduate openings each year.The application process is the same as for students applying to other grades. As part of the application, postgraduate candidates may submit SAT or ACT scores if available, or they may choose to submit a graded academic paper in place of standardized testing. While testing is optional, many postgraduate applicants elect to submit SAT or ACT scores because they have already taken these exams.
Students accepted into the postgraduate program join Westminster’s Sixth Form and become members of the graduating class. They are required to take the Sixth Form English course, but there are no additional coursework requirements designed specifically for postgraduate students. Postgraduate students are expected to contribute to the Westminster community through leadership, involvement, and good citizenship.
Students who fulfill Westminster’s graduation requirements receive a Westminster diploma at Commencement. Those who do not complete the graduation requirements receive a Certificate of Completion.
