  Most memorable experience at Westminster: I will never forget Scott Stevens getting the seniors in Memorial Hall up early on the morning of graduation. He took us out to Brookside Bagels for breakfast and then drove us around campus one last time to say “goodbye.” All of my teachers were excellent, but some that had a huge impact on my academic journey were Dave Hovey, Michael Cervas, Greg Marco and Scott Stevens. It says a lot about Westminster that I have also had the opportunity to call four of them colleagues. 
  Most rewarding aspect of your work: Getting to meet new and unique students every day and hearing their story.

  For me, belonging to a community means: Being a part of something bigger than myself. It means feeling comfortable to be myself and surrounded by people I feel inspired and supported by.

  Fun fact: My husband, Brian Gerges, is a Westminster alumnus (class of 1996). I have heard so much about Westminster over the years and it is wonderful to now be a part of the community. 

  Favorite Westminster tradition: I am looking forward to experiencing Westminster’s many traditions myself!

  Home away from home: Farm Neck Golf Course, really any golf course 

  Favorite place on campus: Jackson Rink (and the greater campus with my dogs) 

  Local favorites: Millwrights and Brookside Bagels 

  Admission tip: Be thoughtful! Find time to think about yourself, your goals, your aspirations, your motivations, your peers and family. We want to find students who enjoy taking time to think about various aspects of their life and the world they are a part of.

  Free Plane Ticket: New Zealand. I spent 8 months there and want to go back soon.

  Fun Fact / Something Surprising about me: I was homeschooled through 4th grade and grew up on a farm. 

  I am fascinated by: Team and organizational success -- how the most successful and well-operated organizations/teams cultivate and sustain success over long periods of time. I welcome any recommended documentaries/books on this topic!

  Favorite Westminster tradition: I love how the Lawn Ceremony brings together both the 5th and 6th form on the night of graduation. Many students say that being pulled on the Sixth form lawn is more special than graduation to them.

  Local favorites: Meadow Restaurant.

  Admission tip: Make time to see the town of Simsbury. Simsbury has many excellent restaurants, shops, and cafes in walking distance from campus that students and families take advantage of during the school year.

  Most rewarding aspect of your work: Getting to meet people from all over the world.

  Free Plane Ticket: I would like to go to Africa because I want to help the less fortunate. I’ve only been there once and it was the best trip I’ve ever taken. Being around people who fight hard to survive is amazing to me. They have a different type of “grit” that’s hard to put into words.

  Home away from home: My family's cottage on Lake Ontario in Upstate NY
  Favorite Westminster event: I have two Westminster events that are my favorite. Cabaret and the Fourth Form Public Speaking Contest. I love seeing students step outside their comfort zones and surprise the community with their sometimes hidden talents. 
  Admission tip: Be yourself! There is a school for everyone so keeping true to yourself and what is important to you, during the interview and application process, will help make sure you choose the best fit for you.
  Free Plane Ticket: Glacier National Park or any of the West Coast National Parks.
  Spend a Day With: The band Mumford & Sons in a private concert with my closest friends.
  Time Travel (point in history you would return to): I would want to see the Beatles live in concert.

  Current home: West Hartford

  Favorite Westminster event: Opening Days. We get to know prospective families well during the admissions process, and are so excited to have our incoming class arrive. Plus, it is great to have the whole community back together after summer adventures.

  Favorite place on campus: Armstrong Dining Hall. Not only is it an amazing building with beautiful views of Talcott Mountain, it is also a great place to catch up with students, faculty and staff.

  Admissions tip: Make connections. Stay in touch with admissions counselors you meet throughout the process. We are here to help you and want to get to know more about you.

  Spend a day with: As a lifelong NPR listener and an attorney, I think it would be interesting to spend a day with Nina Totenberg, who has covered the U.S. Supreme Court for decades. Plus, I had the opportunity to work with her sister, who is now a U.S. District Judge, while in law school.

  Free plane ticket: I lived in Tokyo for a couple of years, and would love to take my son to visit his first home. While in Asia, I would also like to stop in Hong Kong, where he was born (it’s a long story!), and visit mainland China, which I did not have a chance to do while living in Japan.

  Fun fact: I was a member of Colgate University’s first Varsity Women’s Ice Hockey Team.

  Home away from home: I love the coast of southern Maine.

  Favorite Westminster tradition: I always enjoy the Lawn Ceremony. It’s such an important rite of passage for the rising seniors. I love seeing them all dressed up and watching the creative ways they pull kids onto the lawn.

  Favorite place on campus: The bench overlooking the valley behind the Chapel.

  Local favorites: I love living in a place where there are so many beautiful places to walk and hike. My husband and I enjoy walking downtown for coffee or a meal. Our current favorite is La Joya Fresh Mexican! 

  Admissions tip: Be prepared when you visit to talk about yourself and the things in your life that are important to you. Our admissions counselors are wonderful and will make you feel right at home.

  Most rewarding aspect of your work: I really enjoy meeting people from all over the world, hearing their stories and learning more about them and how they found their way to Westminster.
