Martlets Fall to Nobles

The Martlets traveled to Suffield Academy to take on Nobles at the New England Girls’ College Showcase. After preparing all weekend for Nor’easter conditions, the Black and Gold instead found themselves playing under a gloomy gray sky for a hard-fought battle.
Both teams came out ready to compete, trading chances throughout a physical and competitive first half that remained scoreless. Nobles broke through with just under 20 minutes remaining in the second half, taking a 1-0 lead.
The Martlets battled hard to find an equalizer and continued to push until the final whistle, but could not find the back of the net. Despite the result, Westminster put together its best performance of the season so far, showing tremendous grit, composure, and fight from start to finish. Sometimes, the game simply doesn’t end the way you want it to, but there was plenty to be proud of in the Martlets’ performance.
The Black and Gold are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Kent.
