MARTLETS EARN FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON!

After a weekend that saw a nor’easter roll through the area, the Martlets finally got back on Harrison Field and made the most of it, earning their first win of the season with a 4–1 victory over previously undefeated Frederick Gunn!
Westminster came out firing and quickly got on the board. Luka Misko ’27 opened the scoring, finishing off a great pass from Kevin Coronado ’27 to give Westy an early lead.
The lead was short-lived, however, as some questionable defending resulted in a penalty kick for Gunn, which they converted to level the match.
From there, Westminster settled in and began to take control. The final 15 minutes of the first half produced two outstanding team goals.
Brady Jachym ’27 opened his Westy scoring account in style, calmly finishing after Coronado ’27 delivered a perfectly weighted, one-time 40-yard pass to spring him behind the defense.
Just before halftime, another terrific attacking sequence resulted in Jachym’s second of the night. Sam Herdeg ’27 provided the final piece of the buildup with a great strike, setting up Jachym to finish and send the Martlets into halftime with a 3–1 advantage.
The second half was a little less “clean” from Westminster, but the Martlets continued to battle and ultimately put the game away late.
A well-executed corner kick sequence found Coronado ’27, who delivered his third assist of the night to a streaking Misko ’27. Misko calmly finished for his second of the night and sealed the 4–1 victory.
In goal, Lochlain O’Donnell ’28 turned in a strong performance, conceding only the Gunn penalty kick and helping the Martlets secure their first win of the young season.
A great team effort, plenty of attacking quality, and a well-earned result against an undefeated Gunn squad.
Westy is back in action Wednesday, traveling to Choate for a Founders League matchup.
