2nd Half Push Not Enough for the Martlets

Wednesday’s match against Hotchkiss saw two very different teams take the field for Westminster Boys Varsity.
In the first half, Hotchkiss had the Martlets on their heels, and a few uncharacteristic mistakes left Westy trailing 2-0 at halftime. However, the team regrouped quickly and came out with a completely different energy in the second half, putting together some of their best soccer of the season.
The tables turned as Westy became the aggressor, controlling the tempo and creating several dangerous opportunities. With approximately seven minutes remaining, Maurice ’27 curled a beautiful shot into the net off an assist from Misko ’27 to bring the Martlets within one. Despite several excellent chances to find the equalizer, Hotchkiss defended desperately, and Westy couldn’t find that final goal.
The Martlets are still chasing their eighth win, which would make them eligible for playoff contention, but with just three games remaining, the urgency is real.
Next up is another challenging matchup against a top Class A opponent, Berkshire, this Saturday. The goal is simple: put together a complete 90-minute performance!
