Martlets and Gators Tie

The Martlets put together a strong performance against Greenwich Academy on Tuesday afternoon, dictating the pace of play and creating numerous scoring opportunities but ultimately unable to find the much needed game winning goal. Westminster controlled possession for much of the contest but struggled to capitalize in the final third. Greenwich Academy found the back of the net off a loose clearance following a corner kick with just over four minutes remaining in the first half, sending the Black and Gold into the break trailing 1-0.
Westminster came out firing in the second half, generating numerous opportunities and rattling the crossbar several times. The Martlets finally broke through with 12 minutes remaining when Coslyn Bardy ’28 finished a pass from Hannah Coccaro ’27 to even the score. The Black and Gold continued to press for a go-ahead goal in the closing minutes, battling until the final whistle, but ultimately had to settle for a hard-fought draw.
