Martlets Battle DA

In a hard-fought home battle on Hovey Field, the Martlets gave a relentless effort but came up just short in a tight 2-1 defeat against Deerfield. Both squads set a physical, disciplined tone early, battling through a scoreless opening quarter before Deerfield managed to break through early in the second frame to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. Westminster's defense dug in through a tightly contested third quarter to keep the game within striking distance, but Deerfield capitalized late in the fourth frame with just a few minutes remaining to extend their advantage to 2-0. Refusing to back down in front of the home crowd, the Martlets answered right back, executing a crisp penalty corner with roughly ten seconds left on the clock to pull within one. Goal from Stella Spitz ‘27! Time ultimately ran out on Westminster's late comeback surge before they could net the equalizer, but the team showed incredible resilience down the stretch. They look ahead to Friday where they will take on Kingswood Oxford and celebrate our amazing senior class!

Our Grit & Grace player of the game is goalkeeper Allie Scott ‘29! Allie’s impressive saves and ability to fight off a flurry of offensive corners played a big role for the Martlets today!
