Martlets Fall to DA

The Martlets entered their matchup against Deerfield with plenty of energy, fully aware that they were in for a hard-fought battle. This has been a game they were awaiting, but early in the first half, defensive lapses allowed Deerfield to find the back of the net. The Martlets continued to battle, with Hudson O’Hanlon ’28 and Luke Champoux ’28 creating promising scoring opportunities, though neither could find the finish. Deerfield’s quick movement and crisp passing proved difficult to contain, allowing the opposition to break through once more and extend their lead to 2-0.

Coming out of halftime, the Martlets picked up the pace and brought greater intensity to their play. Warren Jones ’30 and Brooks Berthiaume ’27 worked exceptionally well together defensively, combining their efforts to disrupt Deerfield’s attacks and prevent the opposition from advancing toward goal. The Martlets made the second half a much tougher contest for Deerfield, showing greater determination and resilience throughout. However, a penalty in the closing minutes resulted in Deerfield’s third goal, sealing a 3-0 victory.

The Grit and Grace Award goes to Allen Alava for his commitment to the game and his leadership on the field. Allen communicated effectively with his teammates, offering valuable guidance on positional adjustments and helping the team recognize opportunities to gain a tactical advantage.
