Martlets and Choate Draw

Saturday’s game was another away contest on a perfect fall day. Despite injuries and missing players, the Martlets were ready to battle. Choate capitalized early on an offensive surge and a pass to an unmarked Wild Boar to go up 1-0 with just under eight minutes gone in the half. The Martlets didn’t back down and continued to fight. After a halftime pep talk, the team came out strong and dominated the second half. The Martlets finally scored with 15 minutes left on a perfectly executed corner kick by Margaux Walter ‘27 and solid finish by Eliza Reilly ‘27. The Martlets pressured the Choate defense for the remainder of the half and nearly scored multiple times. Despite that, the team was thrilled with the come from behind 1-1 draw against a skilled Choate team. Grit and Grace Awards go to Veronica Edwards ‘27 who played the entire game in multiple positions and did whatever was needed to get the job done AND our two center midfielders, Lillian Coates ‘30 and Lily Pokorny ‘29 who also played the whole game and anchored our offense throughout the contest. Great job Martlets!
