Veteran Coach Paul Assaiante Named Special Advisor to the Athletic Department
Westminster School is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Assaiante as Special Advisor to the Athletic Department. A towering figure in collegiate athletics, Assaiante joins the Westminster community following a storied 30-year tenure as the Head Men’s Squash Coach at Trinity College. In his new role, he will serve as a strategic mentor and resource, focusing on leadership development, coaching excellence, and the cultivation of a high-performance culture aligned with the school’s core values.
Assaiante’s career is defined by unparalleled success and a commitment to character. During his time at Trinity, he led the Bantams to 17 National Championships, including a run of 13 consecutive titles from 1999 to 2011. He famously orchestrated a 252-match winning streak—one of the longest in the history of collegiate sports—and finished his career with a remarkable 507–29 record. A multiple-time NESCAC Coach of the Year, Assaiante also served as the U.S. National Team Coach and was twice named the U.S. Olympic Committee Coach of the Year.

Assaiante expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Westminster community and contributing to its mission of holistic student development. “I’m excited to support Tim Joncas and contribute to the culture at Westminster,” Assaiante said. “I’ve always believed that young people learn life-changing lessons through their experiences—how to win, how to lose, how to adapt, and how to contribute to something bigger than themselves. I see this role as extending well beyond athletics, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to help create a lasting impact.”
