Martlets Fall to Milton

Following a long bus ride to Milton Academy for a Saturday afternoon showdown, the Martlets fought valiantly through four quarters of heavy defensive pressure before ultimately falling 3-0 to the Mustangs. Milton set an aggressive tone early in the first quarter, earning a quick succession of offensive corners. However, Westminster’s defensive unit held firm, turning away each attempt and allowing the Martlets to regain momentum and control play in the latter half of the quarter to keep things deadlocked at 0-0. The second quarter opened with balanced, back-and-forth action before Milton pressed forward once again, generating another streak of corners. This time, the hosts managed to break through, taking a 1-0 lead into the halftime break. Milton sustained its offensive rhythm in the second half, adding a goal in both the third and fourth quarters to extend the final margin to 3-0. Despite the final score, a special shoutout goes to the Westminster defensive unit, which put up a strong effort all afternoon- repeatedly shutting down high-pressure moments in the circle and holding strong against defensive corners.

Our Grit & Grace players of the game are the whole defensive unit! This group’s effort helped the Martlets stay in the game until the final moments.
