Martlets Shutout Porter's
Westminster hosted Miss Porters in what is always a close contest between rivals. Coach Cirelli and Coach Marco were concerned about the team’s focus during warmups, but the players proved their worries to be wrong and opened up with a dominant first half. Ava Aponte ‘28 scored with a beautifully placed shot 7:33 into the 1st half off a picture perfect pass from LIllian Coates ‘30. The Martlets continued to play strong in the 1st half. Although Porters got into a groove at times in the 2nd half, Westminster held on to the narrow lead with a strong overall defensive performance led by Gianna Monaco ‘27. Huge props go to Georgia Ursano ‘28 for playing goalie in the 2nd half to preserve the clean sheet.
Grit and Grace Player of the Game award goes to Gianna Monaco whose defensive play and leadership anchored the Martlets squad all game! Great work G!
