The Westminster Today program has been a hallmark of our connection with engaged alumni and parents for the past 43 years. The program is designed to provide attendees with an immersive on-campus experience. It begins with exposure to our English curriculum, transitions to the student experience, highlights some key areas of school life, and concludes with an administrative and management lens of the admissions process, hiring process and budgeting and allocation of resources. It requires a significant time commitment over those two days, but it is worth it.
As part of our own transition to Williams Hill, Chris and I had the good fortune to share the Westminster Today experience with a fabulous cohort of people, all of whom we have continued to build relationships with. Not only did we get a much better understanding of the inner workings of key offices, but we engaged in thoughtful and productive conversations about Westminster’s mission and core values. We had a great time laughing and joking and, for those of us with children, even commiserating over the trials and tribulations of raising teenagers, who, of course, think their parents know nothing! Perhaps what I liked most about Westminster Today is that it gave me a core group of alumni and parents who want to work together to advance the school. That sort of teamwork is at the heart of my work as a teacher and an administrator; I believe partnerships make us stronger, and as the head of school, I am committed to partnering with others to achieve the shared vision.
