"Westminster School seeks curious and engaged students who want to grow and learn in a challenging and supportive environment. Students who are motivated to become their best selves both in and out of the classroom, taking advantage of the myriad of opportunities Westminster has to offer."
"At Westminster, we aspire to an extraordinarily ambitious commitment to secondary education, a commitment to nurture the joyous participation of our diverse school community across our entire program, from our academic classrooms, to our studios and labs, to our gyms, fields and rink, and to our service to Hartford community partners. Westminster students are inspired by opportunities to make a difference in all their endeavors."
"By the time students prepare to leave Westminster to further their academic experience in college, we hope to have instilled a nascent passion for a number of disciplines."
"Visual and performing artists at Westminster gain an understanding of traditions and methods while gaining confidence, analytical thinking and public presentation skills. Students also learn self-expression, collaboration and leadership while supportive faculty instill a lifelong appreciation of the arts."
David Chrzanowski Head of Visual and Performing Arts Department
"Athletic success at Westminster is measured not only by wins and losses, but through the bonds created between teammates and coaches, individual and team improvement, and personal growth. When students learn how to be competitors and how to cooperate with one another, they are better prepared to be citizens of the global world."
"Driven by a desire to serve young people and aware of the obligation of a private school to serve a public purpose, Westminster School's mission statement concludes with the call ‘to commit to a life of service beyond self.’ Westminster's Hartford partnership programs are the outgrowth of that mission with a direct impact on the young people of Hartford."
Kathleen Devaney Executive Director, Hartford Partnerships and Horizons at Westminster
From the late 1980s on, Westminster’s First Girls’ Soccer has been a force to be reckoned with in New England prep school soccer and has regularly been invited to participate in the postseason NEPSAC Class A Tournament.
The Martlets are consistently ranked among the top 20 teams in New England. The first team competes annually for the Founders League title, playing a 15-game schedule against Founders League opponents and other local independent prep schools. Westminster players have gone on to participate in many strong college soccer programs at both the Division I and the Division III levels.
Coach Kelly Wosleger has served as head coach of First Girls’ Soccer since 2017. Previously, coach Wosleger was an assistant coach at Princeton University for two years where she helped the program to an Ivy League Championship and to the second round of the NCAA tournament in her first year. The program had an overall record of 24-8-4 in her two years there. Before working at Princeton, coach Wosleger was an assistant coach for three years at her alma mater, Fairfield University, where the team held an overall record of 37-17-7. As a player at Fairfield, she was the starting goalkeeper for four years and team captain for two years. She holds several school records but is most proud of her bachelor’s degree in finance and MBA degree from the university.
Wosleger holds an USSF D License and NSCAA National Diploma. She currently coaches for the Connecticut Olympic Development team as well as the Connecticut Football Club where she played growing up. At Westminster, she teaches math and is also the assistant director of athletics.
