  • Hockey - First Girls'

    2019 - 2020
    Head Coach: Jessica Keough

Westminster has established itself as one of the premier girls’ hockey programs in New England. The team is a key member of the competitive Founders League, and has earned the league title 5 times. Outside of the league, the team also plays against many top schools from all over New England, including Williston Northampton, Tabor Academy, Deerfield Academy, and St. Paul’s School.

Over the winter holidays, the Westminster girls compete in the Harrington Holiday Tournament hosted by Milton and Nobles. The team has had remarkable success in the New England Tournament at the end of the season. Westminster has won the championship three times since 2010. Of note was the championship 2014, when as the No. 6 seed the Martlets overcame the odds by beating the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 seeds to win the title.

The program has also had great success in placing girls in some of the top programs in Division I and III college programs. Westminster alumni have gone off to play for Brown, Harvard, Dartmouth, Vermont, Quinnipiac, Union, UConn, St. Lawrence, Bowdoin, Williams, Amherst, and Trinity. They have also represented their country at the U18 IIHF World Championships with USA and Canada. Most recently, alumni have found success playing professionally in the USA and in Europe.

The 2018-2019 season marks Coach Keough’s first season as head coach at Westminster. After serving as the assistant coach for many years and as the head coach at Pomfret School, Coach Keough is eager to build on the tradition of this successful program. Coach Keough can be found out on the road working USA Hockey selection camps for the New England and Massachusetts districts. In the summers, she enjoys working with younger players at clinics she organizes in Massachusetts. As a player, Coach Keough served as the captain of the Ice Hockey and Field Hockey teams at Trinity College. She also enjoyed a fruitful career at Tabor Academy where she was a three-sport captain in field hockey, ice hockey, and lacrosse. In addition to coaching hockey, Coach Keough also teaching history. She lives on campus with her husband, Jay Keough and their two sons in Kelter House.

The program was thrilled to welcome back Kelcie Finn ’14 as the assistant coach
starting with the 2018-2019 season. As an outstanding student-athlete at Trinity College, Coach Finn adds a great deal to the program and is a valuable resource for the players.
