Undermanned Team is Dealt a Loss

Soccer Second Girls’ suffered its second 1-0 loss in just over a week Oct. 8 at its game with Loomis Chaffee. A long shot in the first minute took the Westminster keeper by surprise, catching her off her line. The resulting goal ended up being the lone tally. Loomis had the better of the possession and created more scoring chances, and its deep bench took its toll on the undermanned Martlets, forcing them to spend a great deal of energy chasing the ball. The girls also struggled to match the Pelicans' aggressiveness in challenging for loose balls as well as in responding the steady pressure. Special credit goes to Maddie Dwyer ‘18 and Lizzy McCoy ‘20, who turned back a number of attacks in central defense; to Natalie Rubin ‘19 and Ridgely Green ‘20, who were tireless in midfield, and to Susie Mahoney ‘20 who was frequently dangerous in attack.
