Second Girls' Lacrosse drops close 11-9 game to Hotchkiss

The Martlets played a hard fought game against the Bearcats of Hotchkiss on Saturday but fell by a close 11-9 margin. The teams were well-matched and the play was back and forth all day. After the Martlets hit a post on the opening play, the Bearcats got on the board first. Lily Farriss '19 scored a minute later to tie it up. The Martlets went on a short run to increase their lead to 5-2 after goals by Jill Parsons '19 and Shannon Keefe '19. But the Bearcats grabbed a few back and the Martlets held a slim 6-5 lead at half. The Martlet offense had trouble establishing their rhythm in the second and the Bearcats took advantage, winning 11-9 in the waning minutes of the second. Goalie Nadia Lee '18 made some timely saves and the defensive unit of Liza Lennox '18, Caroline Percival '19, Julia Carter '16, Susie Renehan '19,  Brinley Cuddeback '17 pressured the Bearcats' every possession. Parsons netted five goals and one assist, Farriss nipped three, Keefe buried one and assisted two, and Cynnie White '17 set-up one. On Wednesday the team travels to Berkshire for their final game of the season. Go Black!
