Second Girls' Lacrosse kicks into high gear to defeat Choate 19-7

On a picture-perfect day, the Second Girls' Lacrosse team played a game to match the weather against the Wild Boars of Choate Rosemary Hall. The Boars scored quickly off the first draw and were looking to add another after winning the second draw, but Greta Baker '19 caused a turnover in the midfield and fed the ball to Jill Parsons '19 who nipped a corner to put the Martlets on the board. The Boars and Martlets continued trading goals for the first twelve minutes of the game, but the Martlet offense really kicked into gear for the rest of the half, scoring seven unanswered goals, including four in two and a half minutes to put the halftime score at 11-5 in favor of the Martlets. In the second half the Martlets continued to push the pace of play while clamping down defensively, denying the Boars a chance to get back in the game. Good communication in the Martlet defensive end often produced turnovers that resulted in Martlet goals. Kudos to goalie Nadia Lee '18 and to Liza Lennox '18, Maddie Dwyer '18, Julia Carter '16, Brinley Cuddeback '17 and Susie Renehan '19 for their stellar performance on low D. Lily Farriss '19 netted eight and assisted seven, Jill Parsons '19 buried four with an assist, Shannon Keefe '19 had a hat trick, Rosy Sieglaff '18 scored twice, and Abby Newman '16, Cynnie White '17 and Sophia Gasser '18 each nipped one. The team next travels to Kingswood-Oxford for a Friday matchup before their last home game on Saturday
