Second Girls' Lacrosse runs out of steam in the final minutes in season opening loss

After an exciting scrimmage on Wednesday night against a strong NMH team, Second Girls' Lacrosse officially opened its season against another tough challenger, Greenwich Academy. Lily Farriss '19 opened up the scoring on a drive to goal within the first minute of the game. Greenwich came roaring back and scored the next three goals. Fifteen minutes into the first half, the Martlets pulled together and started chipping away at the lead, scoring four unanswered goals from Farriss, McKenna Burelle '17, Jillian Parsons '19 and Cynnie White '17 in the next six minutes. After another Greenwich Academy run and a last second goal by Parsons, the score was 8-10 at the half. In the second half the Martlets matched the challenger goal-for-goal for the first 20 minutes, playing tighter defense and contesting balls in the midfield, but the Martlets ultimately couldn't convert on the last few possessions and Greenwich pulled ahead to take the victory.
