Bearcats Pour On The Pressure

It was a beautiful fall day in Lakeville CT at Hotchkiss School. There was a big crowd on the Hotchkiss sideline since it was Parents' Weekend there, but the Martlets maintained their focus. Although the pace of the game was a bit slow at the beginning, halfway through the first half there was some great transition passing. The Hotchkiss defense held strong for the majority of the game and had some great hits coming out of the circle that penetrated the Martlet defensive efforts. With multiple breakaway opportunities, the Black and Gold found themselves caught off guard on a couple different occasions, allowing for the cherry-picking offense of Hotchkiss to get a stick on the ball. Joanna Beach '16 had a great day in goal, going to the ball and playing aggressively, resulting in a total of 9 saves. There was excellent play from Elena Lie-A-Cheong '17, who stepped to every single one of her offenders with a strong and steady stick. Abby Newman '16 played picture perfect defense on the sidelines, and left everything on the field. Sydney Autorino '17 had textbook passing and great cutting up the wing, resulting in the one goal on the day assisted by Erin Gorham '16. Westminster faces Deerfield Academy next Wednesday for the second time this season at 4:45 in Deerfield, MA.
