Martlets Win In Double OT

The Martlets won a double overtime battle with the Lions from Kent.  In the end, Evan Yenor '13 sealed the victory for Westminster with four straight free throws in the second period of bonus basketball.  The Martlets started hot and took a 16-2 lead to start the game behind Joey Oh '15.  Oh started the game with three straight baskets.  Ricardo Vazquez '16 kept the Martlets on top with two consecutive three pointers and Carlo Comia '15 had a basket late in the half.  Kent battled back and led 26-21 at halftime.   The Lions led by as much as eight in the second half.  Jack Werner '16 took over the game late and hit several three point shots to bring the Martlets back.  Clutch hoops by Jack Rubino '12, Ken Barnes '16, and Scott Williams '16 had Westminster trailing by three with seven seconds left in regulation.  After a Kent miss, Oh brought the ball up the court and found Werner for the game equalizing three point shot.  In the first overtime, the Martlets and Lions traded baskets and found themselves tied at 56 after five minutes.  In the second overtime, Werner got the scoring started for the Martlets with a three pointer.  Rubino and Yenor controlled the boards and Oh hit three out of four free throws.  Yenor then sealed the victory with his free throws down the stretch.
