Too Many Errors Lead To Loss

Making the most of the holiday spirit, Westminster gave away over twenty possessions to the Big Green.  The boys dug themselves a hole and then made a mad scramble to get out of it.  Westminster started slowly against the Big Green and trailed 16-25 at the break.  At the 6 minute mark of the second half, the Martlets trailed 25-40 and things looked grim.  Ken Barnes '16 then hit a bucket and sparked a 13-0 run for the Martlets over the next five minutes.  Westminster had two chances to tie or take the lead in the last minute, but neither proved successful.  The Big Green made a free throw and then grabbed a rebound and threw it in for a 43-38 victory.  Noah Fosse-Greiner '16, Jack Werner '16, and Christian Barral-Arteta '13 applied the pressure that helped bring the Martlets back.  Scott Williams '16 was in the right place to steal the ball, make the lay up and bring the Martlets to within two points.  Though the team was cold the entire day, Werner was able to score lay-up after lay-up after steals late in the second half.  Werner finished with 14 points and Fosse-Greiner finished with nine.  The Martlets played solid defense all day, but struggled with errant passes and missed shots.
