Martlets Face Rhinos In Final Game

On Saturday was the finale of the Martlets' season. The Black and Gold scored first and were patient on offense. Taft played well with good ball movement. Westminster paced itself early keeping the game close with 8:25 left on the clock and Taft up 12 - 10. The Rhinos were not satisfied with the minimal lead and turned up the heat on defense. They forced the Martlets to turn over the ball 5 times in a row to extend there lead to 22 - 12. The teams went into the half 31 - 15 with Westminster trailing. As the second half began, the Martlets had no answer for the Rhinos' stampede. There were many moments of good play, but the hole was too deep and the shovel too small to dig themselves out of the chasm created in the first half.  This game capped off a challenging yet rewarding season. The final score was 65 - 36. The record will not reflect the blood, sweat, and tears these young men put forth. Wins and loses can't define these Martlets. Their character was defined by how many times they continued to get up after being knocked down.
