Martlets Finish Regular Season With Thirteen Straight Wins

In the last regular season game, the Martlets started a little slowly. In the first period, on the first shot Kent took the lead. For the rest of the period, Westminster just could not get going. Thought the Black and Gold only gave up 3 shots on goal, they never sustained any pressure. In the second period, Westminster started skating and carrying the play. Kent then began to take penalties as pressure increased. Finally the Martlets broke through as Casey Breese ‘11 tipped in a Bethany Dymarczyk ‘08 slapshot. As the period unfolded, the Martlets continued to bring the pressure, outshooting Kent 21 to 5. At the end of the period, Nicole Palazzo ‘08 walked out of the corner on a pass from Sara Reid ‘08 and Dymarczyk and beat the Kent goalie to take the lead for good. In the third, Reid scored an insurance goal on an assist from Palazzo. Then, Sara Ugalde ‘10 found a rebound off an Emily Walsh shot and gave us some breathing room. Kayla Lessard '08 was solid
in the goal. Now the team waits for the seedings for the New England Tournament.
