Martlets Continue To Find Ways To Win

On senior night, the emotions of the day caused a foggy path to victory. In the first period, after the emotional introduction of the seven seniors, Westminster could not get out of their own way. Andover did not show any bus legs and were aggressive. Kayla Lessard ‘08 kept them off the score board until the 5 minute mark, when a slap shot from the point bounced off the back of an Andover player and found a hole through her armor. Andover continued their barrage, but with 14 seconds left Nicole Palazzo ‘08 won the face-off to Sara Reid '08 who smoked a shot into the top right corner, and it was 1-1 at the end of one. In the second the Martlets played with much more spirit, but still had trouble connecting on their passes and were just out of sync. On a 5-3 situation, Sara Reid picked up the puck on an offensive zone face-off and fire a backhand to the net. Palazzo buried for goal number two. In the third, Andover was unwilling to quit and had a few chances early. With 1 minute to play, they won a face-off in their zone and broke down the ice on a 2-1, fortunately, Lessard was on her game and made the save. Thirty seconds later Palazzo iced the game with an empty net goal from Reid. Next up is Kent.
