Martlets Bury Deerfield

Against Deerfield, Westminster had their scoring touch. Deerfield played hard but the Martlets capitalized on their chances. In the first three minutes, Casey Breese ‘11 snapped a shot in the upper corner on a pass from Nicole Palazzo ‘08 and Sara Reid ‘08. Three minutes later, Nicole Fox ‘10 bounced a puck from the corner off a Deerfield defender to make it 2-0. Three minutes later, Sara Ugalde ‘10, snagged an errant pass on a penalty kill and scored a short-handed goal. In the
second period, Deerfield showed more life and Kayla Lessard '08 made 6 saves, a few were point blank. Emily Walsh ‘09 then snagged a breakaway pass from Bethany Dymarczyk ‘08, and buried it for a 4-0 lead. In the Third, Kristin Maxwell ‘10 started in the net and did quite well as Deerfield was not ready to quit. Avi Greene ‘09 then shut the door with a rebound goal, her first of the season, on a shot from Palazzo and Reid. Next up the dreaded the Loomis-Chaffee Pelicans, at Loomis on Friday.
