Second Field Hockey Falls to Talented Taft

After a five-day break from field hockey resulting from rain and the Parents’ Weekend vacation, Westminster adjusted quickly both to the fast-paced turf field and the pressure from the talented Taft squad.  Taft scored on all three of their offensive corners, and Sarah Shanfield ’08 blocked the other six shots she faced in the goal.  As the clock wound down in the in the first half, Jaime McComb ‘09 passed the ball to Emma Pinney ’11 who dodged passed a number of Taft defenders and could not be caught.  She faced the goalie in a one-on-one and fired the ball to the opposite corner to score with 0:02 remaining in the half.  Despite good play throughout the game and a total of 14 shots on goal, unfortunately Westminster could not convert a second time.  The Martlets look forward to hosting Berkshire on Sunday.
