Second Field Hockey Back on the Field and Back on Track

After two weeks with away games and days that were rained out, Westminster was ready to play and showed great intensity from the first whistle.  With the focus on playing smart field hockey, the midfield of Halley Cruice '11, Courtney Kirsch '08, Kate Sullivan '08, and Izzie Wragg '09 controlled the field and repeatedly fed the ball to the offensive line who worked together to keep the pressure on the Suffield keeper.  Whitney Fitzpatrick '09 and Julia Simons '09 each scored one goal per half, and the first three of these came on offensive corners earned by the Black and Gold. Then with four minutes remaining to playFitzpatrick sent a powerful ball across the circle to Simons who made the connection in front of the goal and sent a resounding shot against the backboard.  Emma Pinney '11 also played particularly well on offense and assisted the first goal of the game.  Sarah Shanfield '08 had an outstanding day in the goal, making eight athletic saves to preserve the shutout.
