Westminster Defeats Hotchkiss; Third in Flood Marr

Westminster battled a tough Hotchkiss team for 3rd place in the Flood Marr Tournament. Hotchkiss scored first early in the first period on a power play to give the Bearcats the early lead. Soon thereafter Ben Smith '06 found a streaking Jon Wolter '06 who cradled the pass and put it over the Hotchkiss' goalie's glove to tie the game at 1.

Wolter and Smith linked up again later in the game as Wolter came down the right wing and made a beautiful pass to Smith who was parked to the right of the goalie. Smith was able to beat the goalie to lift the Martlets to a 2-1 lead. This goal proved to be the game winner as Westminster solidified their 3rd place finish in a very competitive tournament. The Martlets once again got a strong showing from Bryce Shattie '06 who only allowed 4 goals in 4 games. Both Shattie and Smith were named to the all tournament team.
