Undermanned Martlets Fall to Rhinos

As the Martlets entered the home stretch of the season, they would need to go 2-0 in their final two games to qualify for the league playoffs. It was not meant to be, as the black and gold fell to Taft on the road. Xavier Izquierdo '27 battled but took the loss on the mound. Offensively, the Martlets were without their 3 and 4 hitters but still battled to grab leads of 1-0 and 2-1 before falling in Watertown. Bright spots for the week included Ryan Holmes '28 being named a Prep Player of the Week by New England Baseball Journal and Ethan Villacis '27 being listed as a junior to watch by the same publication. The regular season finale is Wednesday at Avon Old Farms.
