Martlets Fall to Pomfret
After a long bus ride and a short warm up, the Martlets found themselves on their heels against a skilled Pomfret team. However, Westminster has proven to be a second half team all season and after ending the first half down by 12, they made a commitment to fight back in the remainder of the game. Gianna Monaco ‘27 helped lead the charge, forcing Pomfret into turnovers, while also scoring 13 points. After elevating their defensive pressure and converting on some open scoring chances by Charlotte Evanko ‘29, Monaco ‘27, Parker Perillo ‘26, Delia Lockwood ‘26, and Kaitlyn Buda ‘27, the Martlets were able to cut the lead to 4 in the final quarter, but were unable to close the gap. It was a determined fight, which embodied the team’s spirit all season. As the season came to a close, the team had one last chance to celebrate their seniors – as well as the exciting news that junior captain, Kaitlyn Buda ‘27 was voted by opposing coaches as an NEPSGBA All-Star and will be featured in the all-star game at Nobles on Sunday, March 8.
