Martlets Fall in Lakeville

The Martlets made the drive to Hotchkiss for our final match leading into the long winter weekend. Playing down a couple of our top players but a combined match with Varsity saw many players playing up on the ladder. Fatima Al Abood ‘28 got the Martlets their sole point of the day with a quick 3-0 win at #6. Her depth of shot and putaways dominated this matchup from start to finish. While the Martlets were not able to win any of the remaining matches, there were competitive matches all around. Playing up at #2, Saleha Rahimi ‘27 made a great third game comeback after quickly dropping the first 2 games to take the third game 11-9. Although she dropped the fourth game to seal the match for Hotchkiss, she made some great adjustments against a tough opponent. Similarly, Luna Yang ‘26 played up to #4 and dropped her first two games. She too made some great adjustments in her game 3 to take it 12-10, a highlight of her 4 game loss. Lilly McMillen ‘27 took her first game before narrowly dropping the next three for another 3-1 win for Hotchkiss. Caroline Callen ‘26, Clara Covill ‘26, and Lily Abdel-Meguid ‘26 all fought hard and saw competitive games through their 3 game losses. The Martlets competed with grit as they have all season. We will look to rebound next Wednesday against Williston after a well deserved long weekend.
