Martlets Drop Game to Nobles

Westminster took on a strong Nobles squad in both teams’ second game of the day during day one of the Harrington Tournament. The Bulldogs tested the Martlets from the opening puck drop, jumping out to a 2-0 lead by the end of the first period. About five minutes into the second period, the Martlets went on the Power Play and it was Piper Chaisson ‘27 who was able to cut the deficit in half. Kuylie Kim ‘29 fired a shot from the point, and Chaisson was able to stop it and beat the goalie low through net front traffic. The next few shifts, Nobles answered back with consistent pressure and control of the game. They went on to add two more goals later in the period, extending the lead to 4-1 heading into the third. From there, Westminster showed grit, weathering the storm through the final frame. A structured defensive zone and strong overall effort allowed the Martlets to hold Nobles scoreless the rest of the way. Despite the 4-1 final, it was a strong showing from Westminster against a very good Nobles team. With solid defensive structure and sustained effort, the Martlets proved they could compete even when faced with a tough test.
Our Grit and Grace player of the game is goaltender Kate Epke ‘27! Kate was our rock defensively today and made many key saves throughout the game.
