Martlets Defeat Winged Beavers

The Martlets traveled to Avon Old Farms to take on the Beavers on a cold and blustery Wednesday afternoon to finish off the exciting four-game series between the two rivals this season. Battling through gusting winds, Westminster kept battling and earned a hard-fought 2–1 victory. Dylan Park ’29 opened the scoring with a skillful finish midway through the first half and early in the second half, Mark Broderick ’29 chased down a bouncing ball and drilled it into the back of the net. Avon scored one goal towards the end of the second half before the Martlets secured the win by defending with grit and poise in the closing minutes. CJ Berry ‘29 was especially tough on defense, chasing down several breakaways to stymie scoring chances. The coaches and players extend sincere thanks to Avon Old Farms for being such a respectful, skilled, and competitive opponent throughout all four meetings this season.
