A decisive win!

Frantz Batoh
The soccer match between the Martlets and Berkshire began evenly, with both teams showing strong defensive play and maintaining possession early on. However, the dynamic shifted around the 15-minute mark when the Martlets began to implement their strategy effectively. Their passing became precise, and the communication on the field flourished, leading to a thrilling breakthrough. Just three minutes later, Ava Aponte ’28 scored a remarkable goal with a right-footed shot, firing the Martlets into the lead. Following this momentum, Piper Lundin ’26 quickly followed up with a second goal just four minutes after Aponte, giving the Martlets a comfortable two-goal advantage as the first half concluded. Although they were pleased with their performance, the team remained cautious, acutely aware that the game was far from over.

As the second half kicked off, the Martlets’ dominance became increasingly evident. Five minutes in, Piper Lundin netted her second goal, skillfully assisted by Lexie Willis ’26, further extending their lead. The substitutes came in, but the team’s momentum did not falter; they maintained their aggressive style of play. Eliza Reilly ’27 capped off the scoring with a fourth goal, set up by Piper, showcasing the team’s depth of talent. As the final whistle sounded, the Martlets celebrated a decisive victory.

Eliza Reilly and Lexie Willis received the Grit and Grace award for their outstanding commitment and proactive attitude throughout the match. With a successful Senior Day behind them, the team left the field with heads held high, excited for what lies ahead.
