Martlets Fall to GA

Westminster faced a tough challenge on Saturday against a skilled Greenwich Academy squad, ultimately falling 6-0 in a hard-fought contest. The Gators came out strong, netting three quick goals in the opening quarter to seize early control. Despite the fast start from Greenwich, Westminster settled in defensively and managed to hold the line through the remainder of the first half, keeping the score 3-0 at the break thanks to several key stops and resilient play in the backfield. After regrouping at halftime, the Martlets tightened their structure and showed improved ball movement in the third quarter, working to generate a few promising transitions. However, Greenwich’s sharp execution led to another goal, extending the advantage to 4-0 heading into the final frame. In the fourth quarter, the Gators continued to press their attack, adding two more goals to close out the 6-0 result. Though the score favored Greenwich, the Martlets displayed determination and teamwork throughout, continuing to battle to the final whistle. Westminster will look to build on the experience as they hit the road again on Monday to take on Suffield Academy.
Our Grit & Grace player of the game is junior Stella Spitz! Stella’s compete never waivered throughout all 60 minutes today.
