Martlets Fall to DA

It was a very warm afternoon up in the beautiful and historic town of Deerfield, Massachusetts. For their first game of the season, the girls faced Deerfield’s 3rds team. The game got out of hand both in terms of the score and the level of play on the field, as the hyper-aggressive style of the Deerfield team steamrolled over the Westy squad. After the half, Westminster was able to keep their opponents off the board for nearly 15 minutes, and played inspired soccer. They soon tired out and let in a few more before the end of the game. Coaches Palala and Chrzanowski were very proud of their team for the entire game since they continued to play hard for both halves, despite the score. It was clear to those at the game that Westminster played with superior sportsmanship and grace. The respect for the game and their opponents will clearly be a signature of this team throughout the season. Despite the score, Janet Kiburi ‘26 should be acknowledged for several amazing saves and for leading the team. Janet and fellow senior Jennifer Weber ‘26 have already made strides in bringing the team together.
