Adorno and Nemarich Lead Martlets to Exciting Win Over Williston

In a terrific, well played 6-4 contest, Westminster defeated a talented Williston Northampton team on the road. Williston jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the second inning. However, the Martlets battled back in the fourth frame. Alayna Tawney '19 led off with a single, and Hailey Tullo '22 doubled. Bethany Winters '20 followed with a base hit to score Tawney. Abby Davis '20 was hit by a pitch, and Callista Adorno '22 stepped to the plate with the bases loaded. Adorno drove the ball to right field for a triple, scoring three runs for the Black and Gold. Mandy Busky '21 then singled to score Adorno, and Gabby Nemarich '20 drove in another run with a triple. Adorno pitched extremely well, allowing only four hits over the last four innings. Meg Cournoyer '19 caught a great game for the Martlets. Westminster was efficient in the field throughout the afternoon. Nemarich made a number of impressive plays at shortstop, while Busky was strong at third base. Tullo was sure handed at first base, and Winters was very solid at second. Adorno fielded her position well off the mound. Allison Kijanka '20 and Davis each made important catches in the outfield to help secure the win. Westminster’s next game will be against Choate at home on Wednesday.
