A Loss on the Road

After a long hiatus, Third Girls’ Tennis traveled to Rumsey Hall on a warm and sunny spring afternoon. The girls played six of the eight matches in the indoor courts, which was a new experience for most. The highlight of the afternoon was the loss in a tiebreak by Siena Holowesko '21, playing at No. 3 singles. It was tough in the other four singles matches and the three doubles matches; the points that went Westminster's way were few and far between. The remaining singles players were No. 1 Jennifer Jerand '19, No. 2 Eda Chen, No. 4 Annie Brewer '21 and No. 5 Christina Zahringer '20. In doubles, Izzy Bailey '21 and Mairead DeFronzo '20 played No. 1 singles, Chloe Ferro '20 and Lizzy McCoy '20 played No. 2, and Tatum McBreen '21 and Elena McGuigan '21 played No. 3. The girls demonstrated a tremendous amount of grit, having to play higher on the ladder with the loss of two teammates to the AP exam. They also exhibited a great deal of grace, earning the upper-hand in sportsmanship on the courts.
