Dramat to Present “Hadestown”

Westminster School’s Dramat Association will present “Hadestown” Feb. 20-22 in Werner Centennial Center.

“Hadestown,” a musical by Anaïs Mitchell and Rachel Chavkin, reimagines the myths of Orpheus and Eurydice alongside Hades and Persephone in a post-apocalyptic, steampunk world. Blending folk, jazz, and blues, it tells a haunting story of love, loss, and hope.

The story follows Orpheus as he journeys to the underworld to rescue Eurydice, who is drawn there by Hades’s promise of security and trapped in an endless factory of forgotten souls. At the same time, the troubled marriage of Hades and Persephone reflects cycles of decay and renewal that shape both worlds.

Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 20 and Feb. 21, and at 2 p.m. on Feb. 22. They are free and open to the public with general admission seating. Parking will be available in the lot adjacent to Armour Academic Center.
