Martlets Fall to LC

The Martlets hosted Loomis for our second match in as many days, on what turned out to be a beautiful Friday afternoon. Loomis was a very strong squad and proved to be tough opponents for all the Martlets. The Martlets were close in the doubles point with competitive matches at #1 and #2 doubles. At #3, Crosby Cutler ‘27 and Xavier Kahn ‘27 fought hard in their match but could not gain too much traction in an 8-2 loss. At #2 doubles, Will Henry ‘26 and Noah Maltby ‘28 went back and forth early before their opponents pulled ahead in the final 4 games, winning 8-4. Liam Hibbard ‘27 and Alex Brown ‘27 played the match of the day at #1 doubles. After starting strong and going up a break 3-2, their opponents took the next 4 to go up 6-3. Hibbard and Brown dug in and played some gritty tennis to fight back and pull out an amazing 8-6 win in the match of the day! Sadly, we could not keep up this momentum into the singles matches. Loomis was a strong opponent who won all of the singles matches in pretty decisive fashion. All the Martlets battled hard and played some good tennis despite the overall outcome of the match. Grit and grace award for the match goes to Hibbard/Brown for their gritty and hard fought doubles match. The Martlets return to action Wednesday when we travel to Kent for a 2:30pm start time.
