Martlets Fall to Tigers

The Martlets welcomed the Tigers of Suffield Academy to Pettee Gymnasium for a Friday afternoon contest that, for a time, showcased some of Westminster’s best basketball of the season. The first half featured crisp ball movement, timely cuts, and persistent perimeter defense that frustrated the Tiger guards. Cole Hadden ’26 set the tone early, finishing with 11 points and six rebounds. Finn Cathey ’26 added a high-arcing fadeaway as part of a six-point afternoon, while Kareum Skovron-Rasheed ’29 turned in his most productive outing of the season with nine points and three rebounds. Still, Suffield’s experience and athleticism gradually took hold. The Tigers carried a 26–22 lead into halftime, and the margin widened after the break as extended half-court pressure began to produce turnovers. In the end, it was a tale of two halves, one marked by crisp execution, the other by the tendencies of a young team facing a veteran opponent. Westminster now turns its attention to the road, traveling to Frederick Gunn on Saturday.
