Choate 3 OT

The Martlets hit the road again today, making the short trip to Wallingford, CT—home of the famous Archie Moore’s, arguably the best wings in the state—to face off against the Choate Wild Boars. Both teams were coming off strong weekends and looking to keep the momentum going.
Puck drop was at 5 p.m., and it took a bit for the energy in the building to settle in. Both teams traded chances, defended well, and received steady goaltending. Shots were even after the first period, with neither side giving up many quality looks.
The Martlets opened the scoring in the second on the power play. Captain Carson Craig ’26 fired a shot toward the net that Ryan Holmes ’28 deftly tipped past the Choate goaltender. Choate responded with two goals in a short span, capitalizing on a few neutral-zone turnovers that left the Martlets chasing the play. But the Black and Gold stayed persistent, and before the period ended, Matty Hanrahan ’26 put a shot on goal that Dylan Ness ’26 buried on the rebound to even the score.
With 18 minutes left in regulation, the game was deadlocked once again. Both teams pushed in the third, but neither found the go-ahead goal, sending the contest to overtime. Just a minute into OT, the Martlets took a penalty, and Choate converted on the power play to secure the 3–2 win.
There was plenty to like from both sides, and the Martlets will look to bounce back on Saturday when they host Brunswick for a 3 p.m. matinee.
