Martlets Fall to Pelicans

The Martlets hosted Loomis at home and opened with a strong first half. Steven Lau ‘28 made some impressive attacking runs and created pressure up front, while Brooks Berthiaume ‘27, Jordan Pham ‘27 and Maruli Sianturi ‘28 anchored the back line with a commanding defensive presence. Allen Alava ‘28 organized play with excellent communication, and Calvin Bixby ‘28 drove the attack with sharp touches and positive intent. Despite the solid effort, Loomis found the opener just before halftime.
In the second half, Loomis increased the pressure, but the Martlets stayed composed and continued to battle. Luke Champoux ‘28 worked tirelessly as our forward, and his efforts helped keep the tempo alive. The breakthrough came when Teddy Russell ‘26 buried the equalizer, sending energy across the field. Moments later, Will Gallagher ‘27 delivered a highlight-reel penalty save that electrified the sideline and lifted team momentum. The match remained fiercely competitive, but Loomis scored in the final three minutes to edge ahead. It was one of the Martlets’ hardest-fought performances of the season; full of grit, character, and growth.
The Grit and Grace Award is given to Will Gallagher ‘27 for his tremendous effort, clutch saves, and consistency as a foundation for the team.
