Martlets Roll over Saints

The Martlets hosted Canterbury on Wilbraham Field and came out with relentless energy from the opening whistle. Within the first 10 minutes, they put on a commanding display and jumped to a 3 - 0 lead. Teddy Russell ‘26 opened the scoring and quickly added a second, while Rush Miller ‘28 buried a header to round out the early surge. The momentum continued throughout the half, with the Martlets maintaining possession deep in Canterbury’s half and adding three more goals courtesy of Hyunwoo Chung ‘28, Steven Lau ‘28, and Will Jones ‘28. Canterbury managed to pull one back late in the half, but the Martlets remained firmly in control.
In the second half, the lineup shifted to give more players attacking opportunities and create a more fluid game. Although several chances were unlucky, the team kept pushing forward and kept the Martlets energized. We tallied three more goals, finished by Rush Miller ‘28, Maruli Sianturi ‘28, and a second from Steven Lau ‘28. Calvin Bixby ‘28 played a crucial role in the attack, recording three assists today. In the closing moments, Teddy Russell ‘26 nearly completed his hat trick but was unlucky in the final touch. Overall, it was a fantastic performance from the Martlets.
The Grit and Grace Award goes to Calvin Bixby ‘28 for his determination, composure, and relentless work rate throughout the match, even when the game felt comfortably in hand.
