Martlets Fall to Choate

On a sunny Monday afternoon at Choate Rosemary Hall, the Martlets faced a tough opponent and an early uphill battle. Choate came out strong, capitalizing on Westminster’s slow start, to build a 3-0 lead by halftime. While Westminster showed effort and flashes of solid play, they struggled to generate sustained momentum in the first half, allowing Choate to control much of the action early on. Heading into the second half the Martlets knew they needed to put forth a strong 30 minutes if they wanted to go for the comeback. Westminster responded with greater intensity in the second half and was rewarded with a goal just five minutes into the third quarter. Chloe Corneau ’29 opened the scoring for Westminster, hustling to put away a rebound after a determined effort by Pippa Jiranek ’26 to get the ball into the circle. In the fourth quarter, Lily O’Callaghan knocked in a rebound off an offensive corner, giving the team a late boost. While the 5–2 final score favored Choate, Westminster showed signs of promise and resilience in the second half that they’ll look to carry into future matchups. The Martlets look ahead to their next matchup against Milton Academy on Friday at 6:45pm. Join us for what will be an exciting night under the lights!
