A decisive win!

Frantz Batoh
In a thrilling showdown that promises to linger in our hearts, the Martlets soared to a resounding 3-0 victory against the indomitable Choate! Historically known as one of our fiercest rivals, Choate has always pushed us to our limits, but this time, the spell was shattered, and our team stood united and triumphant.

From the very first whistle, the Martlets commanded the field with unyielding presence and determination. Each player executed their role with remarkable precision, solidifying our defense and granting our goalkeeper much-needed respite. While we maintained control, it wasn’t until the 20th minute that we truly ignited our offense, with a breathtaking goal from Lilly Pokorny ’29, set up by a jaw-dropping assist from Charlotte Evanko ’29. We entered halftime with a slim yet powerful 1-0 lead, brimming with confidence.

As the second half kicked off, the Martlets returned with renewed vigor and an elevated game plan. Our fluid ball circulation dazzled the crowd, culminating in a second goal by the remarkable Eliza Reilly ’27, further solidifying our dominance. Just three or four minutes later, joy erupted as Veronica Edwards ’27 struck the net with our third goal, igniting an explosion of celebration among teammates and fans alike. This moment was particularly cherished, as it was our beloved Veronica who delivered such a satisfying blow! As the final whistle blew, it was official: a 3-0 was secured. Today, we showed Choate the true power of the Martlets—when we unite, magic happens!

The Grit and Grace Award goes not only to the entire squad for executing the game plan flawlessly but particularly to Eliza Lane, whose commanding presence in the midfield was nothing short of regal.
